There are some features of the latest update however that have not been well publicised and some of them look like they could be very useful to the customer. This will be of special interest to owner of the White iPhone 4 who will be able to update their phones to iOS5 upon its release.

Understanding Routers’ Role In VoIP Telecom

An effective and efficient router is one that understands the logical topology of the network and is able to communicate with its nearby devices well. The efficiency of the router is vital in a VoIP telecom business as it handles the traffic.

Routing is a very important part of VoIP telephony. In VoIP telephony, routing is a relay process through which data packets are sent from one device to the other. The term \’routing\’ is not confined to VoIP only, other networks such as circuit switching telephone networks and transportation networks (a network of roads, pipes, power lines etc.) also use routing processes to transfer packets and commodities respectively.

Got Cloud Computing? Ditch your CDN?

Over last year or so, the term Cloud Computing has been making headlines. There are several new entrants into the Cloud Computing industry. The idea is simple, you have all these computers or servers directly connected to the cloud (The Internet) and you have massive computing power at your fingertips. Companies like Rackspace, GoGrid, Amazon, and AT&T are all offering one form of Cloud Computing or another. The services available from these companies range from simple “Cloud Storage”, to fully scalable virtual servers in the cloud.

Technology: For, and by the lazy…

In fact the “21st century minds” have become more creative, and the bodies more lazy! Today a simple gadet can make so many tasks easier, and cut down by far the number of activities that would usually require “physical work”… think of internet banking, internet shopping… what-ever! what can you NOT do with a computer these days? or what would you do WITHOUT your computer and your cellphone?

What Social Signals Do Google & Bing Really Count?

Both Google and Bing have added many social search features over the past year. There’s also been talk about using “social signals” to help rank regular search results. But are either of the major search engines actually using those social signals to rank regular search results? A bit, they tell me. In particular, your stature [...]

Correlation Data for SEO and Social Media Analysis

Today I’m going to be talking about some of those big aggregate average numbers collected from thousands of points of data to see what predicts better rankings over all. I want to be really clear, just to reiterate from last week. Remember that correlation is not causation.

A Rundown of Server Virtualization Technology

Computers have come a long way over the years, but this isn’t always so obvious when it comes to servers. Servers are computers that host information for other computers on a network. They have a lot of processing potential. A lot of power. And yet most physical servers–also called hosts–fail to tap into that power. [...]

The resurrection

This blog has not been updated for a while now due to some factors that were beyond control. As I was contemplating making the first post after the long absence, I thought about spinning the absence into an experiment on What Happens When You Do Not Update Your Blog. This is a previous discussion I had on this blog. I thought to myself I was not kidding anyone. So there you are. The blog was really neglected but I am finally back although updates will not be as often as it used to be.

GoogleMe! Is It Really Necessary?

I personally think that the world doesn’t need another Facebook and Google should know this! The GoogleMe project is really hitting high and the web buzz about it these days has skyrocketed as a result of their recent acquisition of several socially oriented companies, but the fact still remains that no single company is good in all field…Microsoft tried their hands on “Search” and they failed and Google tried with phone hardware (Nexus One) and they also failed too and so are others in this same realm; hence I do not believe Google needs it’s own social networking site in order to be relevant in the connected future because “search” is an everlasting action. What Google need is an engine that is tied to social networking sites and that will have features like “Facebook like buttons”, “social share features”, and other semantic web tools on their search results!

Joining the DoFollow movement

Would you be surprised to know that, with all the talk about DoFollow, that it is not a tag in a website’s code? DoFollow is, in fact, a term that represents something that is not present on a link to a specific URL – the “nofollow” tag.

Nofollow is a tag that simply tells search engines not to crawl, or notice, a link on a page. There are several reasons you would want to use a nofollow tag, such as with paid links (which Google frowns upon) or links to major sites that do not need a lot of boost in their link building efforts, like Google itself.

The reason that many people choose to use nofollow for other links on their site is for fear of giving up the prized “link juice” to other sites, possibly lowering their Google Page Rank. And while it is true that some sites are penalized because they have too many links, the real issue is when your site starts to look like a link farm with all links, and no content. Most sites can safely be DoFollow simply by having a balance of content and links.
