The resurrection

This blog has not been updated for a while now due to some factors that were beyond control. As I was contemplating making the first post after the long absence, I thought about spinning the absence into an experiment on What Happens When You Do Not Update Your Blog. This is a previous discussion I had on this blog. I thought to myself I was not kidding anyone. So there you are. The blog was really neglected but I am finally back although updates will not be as often as it used to be.

Joining the DoFollow movement

Would you be surprised to know that, with all the talk about DoFollow, that it is not a tag in a website’s code? DoFollow is, in fact, a term that represents something that is not present on a link to a specific URL – the “nofollow” tag.

Nofollow is a tag that simply tells search engines not to crawl, or notice, a link on a page. There are several reasons you would want to use a nofollow tag, such as with paid links (which Google frowns upon) or links to major sites that do not need a lot of boost in their link building efforts, like Google itself.

The reason that many people choose to use nofollow for other links on their site is for fear of giving up the prized “link juice” to other sites, possibly lowering their Google Page Rank. And while it is true that some sites are penalized because they have too many links, the real issue is when your site starts to look like a link farm with all links, and no content. Most sites can safely be DoFollow simply by having a balance of content and links.

Tips on marketing to bloggers

blogA couple of weeks ago I bumped into a situation where I had to do research on two different issues although there is a giant overlap. It is no secret that one of my research interest is growing blog and website presence. I have written about this on this and other blogs. I always like to talk about whatever I am researching on. It allows me to look into situations differently in most cases the person(s) I am talking to will ask questions that will force you to view an issue from a different point of view. This is especially so if you talk to people who have no or little knowledge in what you are talking about.

How to scare your visitors away from your site

Most of what I know about the internet world I have learned through reading what other people wrote either about their experiences or observations. I am always learning on how to make it on the internet scene by reading as many related articles as I can. Usually what I read is from the perspective of “how to do something” positive for your site. Like “How to increase traffic”, “How to increase adsense revenue”, “How to improve search engine ranking.”

What really happens if you fail to update your blog for weeks?

The title to this post is not mine but rather an article from another blog that I read. I have been worried about this myself because I have always blogged part time and most of the time the job that pays the bills get in the way. I have also started several blogs for a particular topic and lost interest. In some cases it would be a year before I added a new post. As I was trying to answer this question on the effects of neglecting your blog, I came across this article which went into depth on the effects of missing in action on the blogsophere.
