Traits that Separate the Best from the Rest – Part I

That feeling that comes from being able to fire your boss and set out as an entrepreneur as the business mind behind your own home-based business is enough motivation to fuel the ship, so to speak.

It does take more than that, though, to be successful. Anyone, technically, can take advantage of a home business opportunity. There is a huge difference in taking advantage of a home business opportunity, running a home-based business and having a career as a successful home-based business entrepreneur. Success stories: JayZ and Warren Buffet…

In investments, what you need is emotional stability. You have to be able to think independently, and when you come to a conclusion you have to really not care what other people say. Just follow the facts and your reasoning.

…There’s a whole bunch of things I don’t know a thing about. I just stay away from those. I stay within what I call my circle of competence. Tom Watson [IBM founder] said it best. He said, “I’m no genius, but I’m smart in spots, and I stay around those spots.”

The “Act As If ” principle…

You want to be a successful business-man in the future…you envision that one day you will own a multi million dollar empire…but in your clutches today you have a very small business that you are running from the limited dimensions of your bedroom desk. Is the Traditional Office Becoming Extinct?

Are there dinosaurs among us? If a new joint report from Regus and Unwired called VWork: Winning Strategies at Work is to be believed, yes. The report on the future of the office in an age of increasingly agile work surveyed 600 businesspeople along with several heads of global real estate. While the relationship between Allen and Bill Gates is interesting in itself, Allen also had some very interesting takes on the state of Microsoft.

Will ZipCar IPO prove the cult-like investor hypothesis?

In some novice investor circles there is a reasoning that companies with a novell business concept or idea tend to transfer that enthusiasm to the stock market. In other words, these companies have a cult-like following which gives the masses to invest in a company even when it is not making money. ZipCar fits into [...]

Why is Cisco killing the Flip Video Camera?

I have been following Cisco from a business point of view after I contributed information for stock buying to a friend. One of the issues I had indicated other than the up and coming networking companies giving Cisco a run for its money was the issue that the personal side of the business was shacky. [...]

Justin Bieber and Entreprenuership

When I first came across the TechCrunch article titled “What Every Entrepreneur Could Learn from Justin Bieber” I really did not pay that much attention to it. I knew there was a Justin Bieber movie out in theaters and I just thought this was link bait. It took someone else talking about the article that [...]

Is Skype’s IPO as hot as it sounds?

I am a frequent user and a big fan of Skype as evidenced by my several blog posts about the company and its products. To me though it is more than just a service. I have closely followed the company from its inception although at times it fell from my radar when there is something else occupying my attention. Recently I have been excited about Skype’s move to the iphone which allowed me to stop using my computer for calls and have Skype on the go. I use Skype primarily for international calls and I am a heavy paying user.
